The Samsung Galaxy S5, which is set to be officially launched at the “Unpacked 5” event on February 24, 2014, will have various new features and updates in an effort to compete with the iPhone’s great success. One of these rumored new features is that the Galaxy S5 will come with a fitness-focused software that works with Samsung’s smart watches.
While I could (and probably should) criticize the move towards smart watches, this focus on fitness is what stuck out to me since I recently found out that Apple has developed a type of headphone that monitors heart rates and blood pressures. This “fitness-focus” is an interesting new trend that indicates that exercise is a growing market. With the growth of Cross Fit, P90X, and other workout organizations, tech companies are beginning to take notice of the emerging trend and modify there existing products to appeal to this expanding market. The promotional invitation for the “Unpacked 5” event even had an outline of a runner on it.
